Aly Raisman, two-time team captain of the gold medal winning U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team, has been named keynote speaker of the Champion for Children Breakfast Nov. 1 at the University of North Texas’ Gateway Center. Raisman will share her story as a survivor of sexual abuse. She is an advocate for other survivors and pushes for systematic changes in U.S. gymnastics.
Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County is a non-profit organization that coordinates the investigation of child abuse in a collaborative, child-friendly environment. A team of experts that includes CACDC’s forensic interviewers and family advocates, along with law enforcement, Child Protective Services and prosecutors work together on the investigation. CACDC’s clinical team assists victims and their families with extensive therapy services to heal the wounds of trauma. CACDC also provides child abuse prevention education throughout the community to teach adults who work with children how to recognize and report child abuse.
