Letters to the Editor: ACA repeal, pro-life march

No excuse not to repeal ACA

Dear Editor,
In 2011, Paul Ryan said Republicans “cannot have irrational expectations when we control one half of one third of the government”. Now, Republicans control two halves of two thirds of the government. We gave them power for many reasons, one of which was their promise to repeal Obamacare, which also happens to be the position taken by the majority of Americans in poll after poll.

Republicans ran on a platform of full repeal over and over again. They have voted over 60 times to repeal Obamacare when they knew Obama would veto it. They have promised to repeal it as a top priority and one of the first things they would do once in power. They have had years to plan for it, and they have already passed a budget with the express purpose of using it for repeal. They have no excuse for not immediately acting on those plans.

Healthcare costs are continuing to spiral out of control while Congress fails to act. People on Obamacare plans will see another 25 percent to 115 percent cost increase this year alone. Businesses cannot create more jobs with onerous health care regulations and legislative uncertainty breathing down their necks.

The American economy and the American people cannot wait any longer. If Republicans fail to live up to their ubiquitous campaign promises they will own the results, not Obama and not the Democrats. There is no excuse.

Paper should cover Dallas Pro-life march

While at the local laundromat cleaning some garments that needed attention I noticed The Lewisville Texan Journal.

I read the article “Thousands of people from Denton” in historical downtown square rally for women’s rights. I guess it was only for certain women, right? This occurred a day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

I really hope you have an article soon about the recent March for Life Dallas to keep it fair and balanced.

James Moore

From the publisher: Mr. Moore, we cover local events in and around Lewisville and surrounding cities when we have advance notice, a reporter available, and we think it appeals to Lewisville residents. We actually had readers request coverage of the Women’s March prior to the event. What we did was to run a photo with a caption, and an opinion column about the event. For coverage of the Dallas event that occurred a week earlier, you might want to read the Dallas Morning News.

Send your letters by email to editor@LewisvilleTexan.com.  Include a phone number, your full name, and city.
