Denton County is under a winter weather advisory Thursday afternoon, Jan. 11, from 2 p.m. through 8 p.m. We’ll start today in the 50s, but as a cold front comes in from the northwest, temps will drop this afternoon until they are below freezing.
Additionally, a wind advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. through midnight. Northwest winds of 20-30 mph with gusts of 40 mph are possible.
The National Weather Service calls for possible frozen precipitation, with sleet or snow, and accumulations up to an inch. With ground temperatures well above freezing, we don’t expect much to stick, but bridges and overpasses could become wet and freeze overnight as temperatures drop to the mid 20s.
