State Rep. Ron Simmons (R- Carrollton) will host a town hall session on human trafficking 12:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd. in Plano.
The session will split into two separate seminars on human trafficking — one for peace officers, in which they may obtain two Texas Commission on Law Enforcement training hours, and one for professionals who potentially encounter human trafficking and concerned citizens.
Registration is at 12:30, and the seminars run from 1:30 to 3:30. Simmons will be present, and Precinct 3 commissioner Bobbie Mitchell will deliver the invocation. The seminars will be hosted by Jessica Leal with the Texas Attorney General’s office and Noel Mendoza with local human rights organization Mosaic Family Services.
This event is free and open to the public. To RSVP, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Simmons represents Texas District 65, which covers the eastern half of Lewisville, Castle Hills and the northern half of Carrollton. He is up for re-election this November.
