In January 1962, Lewisville temporarily became Kilkenny, Texas, as Martin Milner, Tuesday Weld and a young Burt Reynolds came to town to shoot an episode of the hit television show “Route 66.” The Lewisville Convention and Visitors Bureau invites individuals to come share their stories from the filming of this episode at a free reception and screening, 2 p.m. Oct. 14 at Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

Many of the city’s iconic sites were featured in the episode, titled “Love Is a Skinny Kid,” and many residents participated as extras. It remains one of the series’ highest rated individual episodes, according to IMDB. Attendees are encouraged to bring any newspaper clippings, photos, home movies or anything else that marked this special occasion.

No registration is required, but attendees are asked to RSVP by calling community outreach specialist Kent Boring at 972-219-3740 or by email at kboring@cityoflewisville.com. If someone has a story to tell but can’t make the meeting, the CVB would still like to hear from them. In that case, please call or email Boring and special arrangements can be made to document their story.
