The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for 34 counties, including Denton County, in effect until 10 p.m. tonight.
National Weather Service Update: A round of thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and continue into the evening hours. The greatest coverage of storms will be south of I-20, but a few isolated storms may also develop north of I-20 as well. The atmosphere is very unstable today, but there is not a lot of wind shear which means the primary threat will be large hail and damaging winds, but a brief tornado cannot be ruled out. The damaging wind potential looks greatest in the darker red shaded area this evening.
