Vandals leave headless Santa, broken windows

Sometime Christmas night or early the next morning, vandals knocked the head off of a life-sized Santa Claus figure in a yard on the corner of Camelot Drive and Corporate Drive.

The next day, someone used a BB gun to shoot out several windows on the front of the home, waking up homeowner Ed Lujan at 2 a.m.

Santa’s head was never found.  Lujan said that he was going to throw the figure away at first. Instead he added a sign in front of it that reads “Whoever did this, we still believe in Christmas.”

Lujan, himself a police officer, reported the incident to police, and was busy Thursday installing video cameras on his house.  The windows are covered by insurance and will be replaced.  But Santa may not be so lucky.  Lujan said he has not been able to find anything like it for sale.

In 17 years at the residence, the owners say they’ve never had any problems like this before.  They decorate the home each year for Halloween and Christmas.

The homeowner is offering a reward for information leading to the vandals’ arrest.  To provide information about this crime, contact Lewisville Police Department at 972-219-3600.  You can also call the tip line at 972-219-8477 (TIPS) or text 847411 with the word “tiplpd” followed by your message.
