The Visual Art League of Lewisville is looking for regional artists to submit their work for display in Fresh Ideas 2017.

VAL is accepting entries until 1 a.m. June 30 at for its latest version of juried exhibitions. The exhibit, which will be displayed in the art gallery at the Medical City of Lewisville Grand Theater, aims to represent current trends in modern art, the press release said.

All visual artists who live in Texas and its neighboring states may enter up to three pieces of original 2-D or 3-D artwork that has been created in the past two years. The entry fee is $35 for VAL members and $50 for nonmembers.

Art that is presented on a flat surface may not exceed 50 inches by 50 inches in size, including frame. All 3-D art must be able to sit on a pedestal or the floor and not exceed 20 inches by 14 inches in size.

First place winners will receive a $1,000 cash price and a solo show in summer 2018 at the MCL Grand Theater. Second place winners will get $500 and third place winners $250.

There will also be cash prizes for two honorable mentions and a people’s choice artist.

All prospective sales will be referred to the artist as neither VAL nor the MCL Grand will act as an agent between artist and buyer, the release said. Exhibiting artists agree to 10 percent commissions to MCL Grand and VAL each for art sold during the show.

Artists retain all copyrights to their work but agree the art on display is subject to being photographed and reproduced in print or online for the purposes of promoting the MCL Grand and Fresh Ideas 2017 without compensation to the exhibiting artists, the release said.
