Shortly after 7 p.m. Friday night, two separate family gatherings outside an apartment complex in the 200 block of W. Southwest Parkway turned into an altercation that then turned violent.

Lewisville Police Captain Jesse Hunter said that the neighbors became involved in a verbal altercation which turned physical between two women, and one of them cut or stabbed the other, resulting in a serious injury.  The injured woman was transported by Lewisville Fire Department medics to Medical City Plano for treatment.

In addition, a four-year-old child appeared to have been cut.  Radio traffic indicated the child was cut on his hand, and that medics transported him to Medical City Lewisville for treatment.

Hunter said that detectives were on scene working the case, and that it was not clear whether a crime was committed, or if it was a defensive situation.

As of 10:20 p.m., police were still working the crime scene trying to determine exactly what happened.  Readers are urged to avoid the area.

We will update this post if we learn more about the incident or the conditions of the injured.
