The Lewisville Texan Journal is accepting intern applications for the summer months. We are looking for writers interested in the workings of a mom-and-pop paper. You will be able to contribute to any and all sections of our Lewisville-focused publication. You will also have a hand in editing and designing our weekly paper. We value versatility.

This is a great opportunity to learn about hometown journalism, get an array of clips for your portfolio and work independently in a collaborative environment. You will have a say in what you cover as long as it is relevant to Lewisville. You will also get meals on deadline night. This is an unpaid position available to students for class hours.

Our ideal candidate has…

  • experience with media writing
  • a comprehensive knowledge of social media
  • an understanding of AP style and copy editing
  • a tenacious work ethic
  • photography experience
  • access to transportation
  • lives in Denton County

Additional assets that aren’t necessary but will be highly considered include…

  • print layout experience
  • photo editing capabilities
  • Lewisville residency
  • working knowledge of HTML, PHP, WordPress, Google Docs and/or LucidPress

We encourage anyone interested to apply regardless of experience. Send PDF of resume, at least three samples of your writing and any questions to ulsh@LewisvilleTexan.com.
