A 28-year-old man who did not resurface after jumping into Lewisville Lake Sunday evening was found Tuesday around 6:40 p.m.
He was located and recovered south of Oakland Park, Game Warden Kyle Allison said.
The wind was estimated to be at approximately 15 mph Sunday evening, causing the man’s boat to drift away from him after he jumped in, Game Warden Jerry Norris said.
The man became distressed and a friend on the boat with the man tried to throw him a life jacket but he wasn’t able to get it.
The friend was wearing a life jacket when she tried swimming out to him to give him another life jacket, but he went under before she got to him and did not come back up, Norris said.
The boat drifted away from the woman and a passerby on a fishing boat picked her up and called 911, he said.
The Lewisville Fire Department, Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers responded to the 8:30 p.m. call on Sunday. The search was called off and resumed Monday and Tuesday.
