Salvation Army will hold a grand opening for a new family store in Lewisville 10 a.m. tomorrow, Oct. 27, in the old Office Depot at 602 E. Round Grove Road in Lewisville.
Family stores offer housing, employment and group and individual therapy for adults who need help resuming a normal life. The stores sell name-brand clothing, home goods and electronics at discounted rates, with proceeds going toward the Salvation Army’s adult rehabilitation efforts.
Salvation Army Lewisville director Steve Thomas said this will become the largest family store in the Metroplex. He said he regularly takes people from Lewisville to family stores at least twice a month to enter them into the six-month employment and rehabilitation program. The nearest store currently is the Farmers Branch location at 12895 Josey Lane.
“It’s a fantastic program. We’ve seen great results,” he said. “This is the first time we’ve had a store anywhere near us.”
The store’s grand opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow, with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:45, which Thomas said will be attended by City Council members. This event is open to the public.
