Motorcyclist killed in crash

A motorcyclist died Thursday morning after a collision on F.M. 407 at N. Garden Ridge Blvd.

According to Lewisville Police Captain Chris Butterworth, the crash happened at about 9 a.m. as the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on FM 407.  The driver of a Chrysler 300 heading westbound was attempting to turn left onto Garden Ridge, and collided with the motorcycle, ejecting the rider.

Radio traffic indicates the motorcycle rider was pronounced dead on the scene.

Butterworth said the rider was wearing a helmet.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the victim as Tyler Justice, 33, of Highland Village. Police said he was riding a sport–type motorcycle.

The crash was still under investigation mid–day, and some lanes of traffic on FM 407 were temporarily closed.

Butterworth said that intoxication was not suspected as a factor in the crash, but that the driver of the car voluntarily submitted to a blood draw, for which she was transported to a local hospital. She was not injured.

Police believe the car driver was turning left on a yellow arrow, but they have no independent witnesses as to whether Justice had a red light.
