The Lewisville Police Department SWAT team officially commissioned the SWAT Training Conex box provided by Brady Jones as a part of his Eagle Scout project.
The Eagle Scout Service Project, also known as the Eagle Project, is the opportunity for a Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, or qualified Venturer in the Boy Scouts of America to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of his community.
Jones raised the necessary funds required — approximately $3,000 — to purchase the shipping container and all the materials as well as assisted Captain Kendall Lynn and Captain Casey Carter in welding the various window inserts and frames. Jones organized his troop members to assist in painting and completing the final project.
Per Troop 451, this was one of the largest overall scout projects ever completed. Many thought Jones had taken on a task too great to accomplish. The project began in April 2015 and was completed and officially placed into service last week.
This training tool will not only benefit the Lewisville SWAT team but will benefit several other SWAT teams who train at the police training facility.
