Kids help restore ecosystem at Corps of Engineers STEM event in Lewisville

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lewisville Aquatic Ecosystem Research Facility is at the foot of the Lewisville Lake dam. Under the guidance of research biologist Lynde Dodd, the Corps hosted a half dozen youngsters from Highland Village, Texas, who learned about the ecosystem in an outdoor classroom just a few hundred yards away.
By helping place a diverse selection of new plants at the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Center, the students learned about the interplay of water, animals and plants in this quiet refuge in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex — part of the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Science, technology, engineering and mathematics education begins at a young age by getting your hands dirty.
