Collier leaving LHS for Crowley

Gary Collier has confirmed that he is leaving his position as head basketball coach at Lewisville High School to fill the same position at Crowley High School.

Collier went 118-77 in his six seasons at LHS and led the Farmers to the playoffs four times, including last year’s bi-district appearance. He will replace Alfred Jones at Crowley, a member of District 9-5A.

Jones went 124-90 in seven years at the southern Tarrant County school.

Collier, who was an assistant coach at North Crowley prior to becoming a head coach, cited proximity to home as the reason for the move to Crowley. The former Cleveland Cavaliers 1994 draftee is married to Nicole Collier, the Texas House Representative in District 95 (Tarrant County).

The former Tulsa University star took over for Henry Thomas in 2011, one season after leading Fort Worth Arlington Heights to a state semifinal appearance. Collier went 97-35 in four years at Arlington Heights.

The boys basketball coaching position has been posted on the LISD website.
