VIDEO: Lewisville Fire Department hosts open house for residents

At the central fire station, Lewisville Fire Department provided an array of activities and demonstrations to educate and entertain residents during its open house Saturday, Oct 8. If you have a grease fire, Battalion Chief Jerry Wells taught us to turn off the gas to the stove and to plop a lid on the lit pan. Firefighter and paramedic Joaquin Criner taught residents (some in Spanish) how to give CPR and apply the Heimlich maneuver. Residents and their children were able to tour emergency vehicles, including helicopters and the ladder truck. Some of those kids put out pseudo-fires with an actual firehose — with the help of a firefighter.

Watch our video for a glimpse at the event.
