The Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department will hold two public meetings next week to update residents on the progress of the Multigenerational Center.
The meetings are 1 p.m. July 2 at the Senior Activity Center, 1950 S. Valley Parkway and 6:30 p.m. July 3 at Memorial Park Recreation Center, both of which are located at 1950 S. Valley Parkway.
The 87,000-square-foot facility will be built on the property where the Senior Activity Center and Memorial Park Recreation Center currently sit, replacing both buildings.
A representative from Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture will be at Monday’s meeting. Attendees will get an update on the project status and budget, see some of the new design updates for the facility, and learn more about the construction timeline for the Memorial Park site.
The $46 million Multigenerational Center was one of the main components of the largest municipal bond package ever passed by Lewisville voters in November 2015. It will feature an indoor pool, a gymnasium, an indoor walking track, an expanded fitness area, community rooms and an indoor playground for children. The facility will also feature a public art component being created by Andrew Dufford.
Construction is expected to begin this summer and the facility is expected to open in 2020.
