Become a Citizen Scientist, learn to use iNaturalist and add your very own observations to some Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) projects during the BioBlitz, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 at LLELA, 201 E. Jones St.
The LLELA BioBlitz, presented by the Friends of LLELA, will be an opportunity for scientists, families, students and other community members to work together to learn more about biodiversity at LLELA. There will be many opportunities for attendees to join a hike, interact with researchers and volunteers in the pavilion, participate in kids’ activities, and much more.
There is no fee for any BioBlitz activities beyond LLELA’s normal $5 per vehicle entry fee. However, many of the hikes have limited space available and will require a ticket. Tickets will be distributed at a registration table at the event on a first-come, first-served basis. A few after-hours events do require pre-registration.
Some of the featured events at the BioBlitz include migratory bird observation, a wildflower walk, animal tracks and signs hike and Kids Corner. For a complete list of times and events, please visit the BioBlitz page on llela.org.
