Lewisville Lions Club member Joseph Tauzin will compete in a state-level debate event in Corpus Christi in May after receiving first place in district-level competition.
Soon after the beginning of the year, the Lewisville Lions held their annual drug awareness speech contest, inviting members of Lewisville High School to participate. Four members of Sally Squibb’s speech and debate class chose to participate: Alysa Jiron, Kaden Richardson, Tauzin and Elain Wissar. The participants gave five to seven minute presentations on risk factors and why teens use drugs and alcohol. Tauzin, Jiron and Richardson were awarded first, second and third place scholarships, respectively.
Less than a week later, Tauzin participated in the Lions’ district level contest in Haslett, where he was once again awarded first place.
In late May, he will travel to Corpus Christi to compete at the state level.
The Lewisville Lions congratulate Joseph and wish him well at the state competition.
