The Lewisville Fire Department is now accepting applications for new firefighters. The selection process for certified firefighter/paramedic consists of several steps and is intended to produce a pool of candidates who are qualified to become Lewisville Firefighters.
Applications can be found at cityoflewisville.com. Click on the “Job Opportunities” tab at the top of the home page and you will be taken to the all the latest job postings. An application must be submitted through the website by May 15.
Applicants selected for further testing will need to be available for panel interview, essay and physical ability testing on May 23-25. Physical Ability Test will take place at the Jerry R. Galler Public Safety Training Center, 701 E. Valley Ridge Boulevard. Testing begins at 8 a.m. No applicant will be allowed to participate if they arrive after 8:30 a.m. The physical ability test will be cancelled if it’s raining on the day of the test. Make up test dates will be May 30 and 31.
The starting pay for a certified firefighter/paramedic is $62,128. The top of range salary for a certified firefighter/paramedic is $75,507. A full complement of benefits offered include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement (TMRS), employee and dependent sick leave, vacation, longevity pay and long-term disability insurance. The City of Lewisville does not participate in Social Security. Employees have the option of contributing to a deferred compensation plan with a city match of 3.76 percent.
