Bring the family out for some food, fun, and great music at Lewisville Western Days, tonight and tomorrow in Old Town Lewisville. This year’s musical headliners are Randy Rogers Band tonight and Gary Allan on Saturday.

This year’s Western Days event will include the 14th annual World Tamale Eating Championship sponsored by Market Street, an expanded Western Village, Tribal Traditions Dance Troupe, the Kid Kountry Playground presented by Castle Hills, a mechanical bull, a working blacksmith, Huffines Auto Dealerships Lewisville Cattle Drive Parade, Castle Hills Culinary Corner, an art exhibit at Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater, live entertainment on five stages and many more exciting activities.

As part of the Western Days event, the Lewisville Convention & Visitors Bureau is opening a new exhibit in the Visitor Information Center, 247 W. Main Street. “As Thick as Water – The Story of Lewisville Lake” chronicles major events from the creation of the lake though present-day uses. The exhibit features historic photos, maps, little known facts and newspaper articles detailing the creation of the lake. The Visitor Information Center is located outside the fairgrounds, and will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit will remain in place into 2019 and will available to visit during normal business hours.

Festival gates will open at 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m. on Saturday. Attendees will need to present their printed or electronic ticket at the gate for free admission between the hours of 5-7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. However, beginning at 7 p.m. both nights, free tickets will no longer be redeemable and a $10 cash only charge will be required for admission for everyone except children younger than 12.

DCTA will provide free shuttle service during both days of the festival. The shuttle service is open to everyone and will operate from 4 p.m. tonight to 12:30 a.m. Satuday morning and from 9 a.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday. The shuttle will run every 20 minutes and will pick up passengers from the Old Town and Hebron Stations and drop them off near the festival grounds.
