Journey to Dream awarded $5,000 donation, community can use social media to double it

FLOWER MOUND — Stancoff Insurance Agency has earned a 2018 Safeco Insurance® Make More Happen Award in recognition of its exceptional volunteerism and commitment to making positive change happen in the local community. The award includes a $5,000 donation that will go directly to Journey to Dream, a nonprofit organization that empowers teens to overcome adversity by providing services and programs to at-risk and homeless youth.

“My team and I have worked with Journey to Dream for four years, and we are incredibly thankful for being awarded the Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award so we can give back even more,” said Scott Stancoff, an independent agent and owner of Stancoff Insurance Agency. “Journey to Dream has had a significant impact on the youth throughout our community and these funds will help them continue to make a difference.”

Beginning on Wednesday, May 2, Stancoff Insurance Agency and Journey to Dream will have their story featured on the official Safeco Insurance® Facebook page ( with a chance to raise an additional $5,000. If the story receives at least 200 likes, comments or shares on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn, the total donation for the nonprofit will double to $10,000.

“We are excited to share the inspiring stories of our agents with their communities through social media while raising funds for these outstanding nonprofit organizations,” said LeTesha Wheeler, Safeco Insurance Central Region Territory Manager. “Safeco’s Make More Happen Awards program helps to recognize the amazing work agents do in areas like Flower Mound and motivate others to do the same.”

Safeco’s Make More Happen Awards focus on nonprofits in the areas of health and safety, education and civil service. Stancoff Insurance Agency was selected for a Make More Happen Award based on a photo and application demonstrating its commitment to Journey to Dream, which serves teens throughout North Texas.

The insurance agency first became involved after they were invited to the nonprofit’s annual DREAM BIG Gala and heard the heartfelt testimony of a teenage girl whose life was saved by the support she received from Journey to Dream. Inspired by her story of hope, the insurance team made a commitment to help the cause.

Stancoff Insurance Agency employees support Journey to Dream by volunteering at events, providing dinner to shelter staff and residents and mentoring residents about positive life planning. With a $10,000 donation, the nonprofit will be able to feed all shelter residents for over 100 days, provide nearly 160 counseling sessions and enable 20 weekend outings for kids who deserve the opportunity to make the most of their childhood while they still can.

Throughout 2018, Safeco will select a total of 24 independent agents for awards and donate up to $240,000 to the nonprofits they support. The Make More Happen Awards are a part of Safeco Insurance’s Agent Giving Program.
