The Greater Lewisville Community Theatre opens its 2018-2019 season with multiple performances of the heartwarming, hilarious, hip-hop driven “Welcome to Arroyo’s.” Run dates are Aug. 24 to Sept. 9, with performances 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays with an additional 3 p.m. matinee Saturday Sept. 8.
Alejandro Arroyo owns the newest — and cleanest — lounge on the Lower East Side. His sister Molly expresses her talent by painting graffiti on the back wall of the local police precinct. Officer Derek is a recent NYC transplant with something to prove. College student Lelly Santiago may have discovered that the Arroyo siblings’ late mother was a founder of hip-hop music. Two DJs/narrators/Greek chorus spin the story in this hip-hop theater coming-of-age tale.
