Fallen officer bike race, 5k – Oct. 15.

An officer is killed in the line of duty every 61 hours. Throughout history, there have been more line of duty deaths in Texas than any other state. Since Jan. 1 of this year, 71 officers have been killed in the line of duty across the nation, including 15 from Texas.

The Texas Police Chiefs Association’s Officer Survivor Fund provides monetary assistance to Texas families of fallen heroes within 24 hours following an officer’s line–of–duty death.

The Fallen Officers Bike Race is a community event that takes place 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at The Shops at Highland Village. Activities include a 5K run, a civilian bike race and a police bike race. There will be live music, demonstrations, raffle prizes, silent auctions, a kids zone, food and drinks throughout the day.
