Lewisville has launched a 24-hour live webcam at the construction site of Thrive, the city’s new multigenerational recreation center. This is the second live webcam in Lewisville — the other webcam showcases the award-winning Wayne Ferguson Plaza in the heart of historic Old Town Lewisville.
You can access the Thrive livecam on the city’s YouTube. The website Camstreamer.com also has linked to this new webcam. It is featured in its “Buildings and Constructions” playlist on YouTube.
Construction on the new $46 million, 87,000-square-foot facility began in August. Thrive is being built at the intersection of W. Corporate Drive and S. Valley Parkway, on the property where the Senior Activity Center and Memorial Park Recreation Center used to be located. Both of those buildings have now been demolished.
Thrive was a top recommendation of the Lewisville 2025 vision plan and one of the main components of the bond package passed by Lewisville voters in November 2015. It will feature an indoor natatorium, a gymnasium, an indoor walking track, an expanded fitness area, community rooms, an indoor playground for children and more than 14,000 square feet of dedicated space for senior activities. The facility also will feature a public art component being created by Andrew Dufford.
Thrive is expected to open in 2020. To learn more about Thrive, and to see artist renderings of the facility, please visit the Thrive page on cityoflewisville.com. The final design of the building might differ from the artist renderings, but the floor plan and amenity layout will remain as shown.
