Starting Dec. 11 and running through Jan. 15, live Christmas trees can be dropped off at the Lewisville Lake Park soccer fields near Lake Park Road and North Mill Street to be recycled into mulch. Recycling Christmas trees helps reduce waste, extend landfill life, provide useful compost and save money.
Trees must be stripped of all nails, wire, ornaments, lights and tinsel prior to being dropped off. Free mulch will be available at the drop-off site between Dec. 26 and Jan. 30, suitable for use in yards, gardens and flower beds, walkways, around trees and shrubs or for livestock bedding.
The program is sponsored by Keep Lewisville Beautiful and Lewisville Parks and Recreation. For information, call KLB at 972-538-5949 or PARD at 972-219-3550.
