Lewisville Animal Services will hold its annual Paws in the Park adoption event 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 21 at Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, 995 E. Valley Ridge Blvd.
Paws in the Park is a free, large-scale adoption event incorporating fun for all ages throughout the day, featuring on-site adoptions, rescue organizations, educational opportunities, pet-related vendors, food trucks, a pet kissing booth, a pet and owner caricature artist and a demonstration by Search One Rescue Team.
There also will be the fifth annual Wiener Dog & Wannabe Wiener Dog Race. A weenie dog applicant must have the appearance of a dachshund. A wannabe applicant must be a small dog under 15 lbs. of any breed or mix that wishes it were a dachshund and wants to race. The winners from each category will compete in a final race. Trophies will be awarded for each category and a grand prize trophy will be given to the fastest racer of the day. Shot records and current rabies vaccinations are required for all racing applicants.

In-N-Out Burger will be giving out free burgers to the first 500 visitors, Raisin’ Cane’s will provide free tea and lemonade and Tikiz Shaved Ice also will be on site.
