Lewisville ISD will hold its annual back-to-school fair this weekend, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at Lewisville High School.
The fair will help an estimated 4,000 students get supplies for the coming year. Attendees will receive a new backpack filled with school supplies, free vision exams, sports physicals, immunizations, haircuts, information on student aid and information about after-school programs, according to the district.
The district is still seeking sponsors and volunteers to help put the event on. Interested parents can volunteer online or ask for more information at email@example.com.
School starts Aug. 15 this year, a Wednesday, two weeks earlier than its start time last year. In a months-long open poll last fall, parents voted overwhelmingly for the early start time, with two schedule options starting Aug. 15 combining to receive more than three quarters of the vote over the two Aug. 27 options. The last day of school under this schedule is May 23, before Memorial Day.
